So I’m not a recruiter, but I’ve always thought being in the military has been a pretty sweet gig. Most jobs in the military are more than 40 hours, and for a while you’ll be making less than 2,000 a month, but rent is covered, food is covered, you get a 4 day weekend for all federal holidays (comes out to almost 1 a month), and 30 paid days off a year to take whenever you want (also rolls over, can save up to 90) If you get married and obviously want to live outside of the barracks and eat food from your house instead of the chow hall, they give you MORE MONEY to cover rent and food. All that plus you get to serve your country and get free college while you’re in, and 4-8 years when you get out. The education you get from your job training gives you college credits too. A lot of people dislike their time in the military, but I always have felt like Uncle Sam is giving me more than I’m giving him. And I only listed the tangible things. Not to mention the personal growth, travel, and friends I’ve made over the years. Pretty sweet gig imo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This. This. This. We could just eat the rich; the well fed, bloated hogs. It pisses me off that ya work 50-55 hours a week (or more) at $15/hr and barely float. No cable. No internet. No extras. Just rent, utilities and car insurance/fuel. Have to fight for food assistance. And don’t dare get sick. I came down with double pneumonia and my workplace at the time refused to give me doctor ordered time off to get better/heal. So I had to quit. I’ve been fighting to get unemployment for the last 10 weeks even though I have submitted proof. Thank goodness I went without things I wanted and needed so I could have a savings. Took me 3 years to save and took me two months of rent to use it up. Oh and it’s always fun when you are making just above poverty level wages, count on your tax refund for a little relief and peace of mind just to find out that you owe (and you don’t have the money right now to pay so you’re getting charged interest.) Or your entire tax refund goes toward student loans without your consent. They leave you nothing. It’s bullshit. And before someone chimes in and says “oh but that’s your debt and I paid mine…” yes, it’s my debt. Absolutely. However. When the lowest monthly payment you can get is $600 a month and you have only $200 left to live on after NECESSITIES…it’s impossible, yes, unless I pick up another part time job (or two) to pay just that, never have a life, never sleep and never see your family… Cool. I was forced to go to college by my parents. I wanted to go to trades school because I knew it was a better, more financially obtainable option for me as a young student. But no. Parents “know best”. Supposedly. It’s just messed up. It’s no wonder so many people decide to leave life. Something needs to change. And I refuse to let the government starve me/us out. *End rant.*

Even if she was paid enough it doesnt really take away from the fact she has no time to enjoy her life, you’re expected to work until retirement and save money so then when you’re old, burned out and have little energy you can “enjoy” life.

Ive been there. I was dressed in rags. Walked everywhere because I had no money for buses. Worked a lot of hours to support myself and my daughter. It did not profit me financially. It profitted my country. That's not the point. I was a valuable member of society. People that do not work do not have a sense of been a part of our society. I would encourage people to get a job that you like because life is about work. Eat, sleep, work, look after loved ones and work on oneself. Only children have spare time. Adult life is devoted to others not oneself. Also we have to solve a lot of problems. This young lady needs cheaper accommodation or share the cost with a flat mate. Hobbies are great. Anything that you can fit into your schedule. Keep yourself mentally active. I suggest you find out if you can get free food from a charity, soup kitchen or can you go back to your parents? Depending on what is draining ones money. Good luck to everyone because times are going to get tougher. I suggest a bit of prepping if possible. I have spent a lot of my life been poor. When one is constantly thinking about money choices. ❤ From a British pensioner.

THANK YOU! my step mom keeps trying to push me to get two jobs, get things done in the hour or two I have before I go to work, just work more, sleep less, and I don't know how to tell her I physically cannot do that because those things are stressful enough for someone normally, but I also struggle with depression, anxiety, autism, and adhd, and my life situation right now already feels like it's bordering on a death sentence...you and this woman have perfectly put it into words

So many people are of the mindset that they should be paid a large amount of money regardless of what they do, this is stupid in that say you pay a Walmart employee the 4-6000 dollars a month needed for a comfortable life, prices will go up to cover that cost so now that 4-6000 dollars a month is still not cutting it. Also so many young people think this is a new problem, this has been going on for centuries now, people in the 60’s struggled to get by right out of high school. However they had opportunities that no longer exist, manufacturing and it usually paid pretty good. Unfortunately we sent all that to china. In other words we screwed ourselves , and this isn’t a rich person’s fault, this is our fault for buying too much Chinese garbage.
